Classification of Organic Bio Fertilizers

People are increasingly growing their own vegetable gardens in the present times. One of the possible reasons behind this is the rising supermarket price. People are also becoming aware of the quality of food they are taking. Food bought from stores often turns out to be contaminated and creates healthy problems. Hence, growing your own garden is a wise decision.

However, maintaining good garden calls for a lot of planning and hard work. You need to decide what type of fertilizers you want to use for your plants. Most of us are aware of the fact that Organic bio fertilizers are better than the synthetic ones. Organic manures are of various types with each type having its own application. This article describes the major types of organic manures.
The after effect of using organic bio fertlizers

Why Use Bio Fertilizers?

Bio fertilizers are extremely helpful in crop growth since they contain organisms that fix nitrogen. They promote growth and establishment of crops. Use of these fertilizers enhances biomass production and yield of crops by 10 to 20%. They are ideal to be used in sustainable agriculture and organic farming. The

Types of Bio Fertilizers:

Rhizobium:

Rhizobium forms the most commonly used bio fertilizer. It can fix atmospheric nitrogen and increases crop yield by 25%. It is advantageous for all types of crops like vegetables and leguminous crops.

Azotobacter:

Application of azotobacter can significantly increase the yield of sorghum, pearl-millet, maize, rice and wheat. Apart from fixing nitrogen, the fertilizer also produces antibacterial and antifungal hormones and compounds.

Azospirillum:

Certain microorganisms, such as blue green algae and bacteria, possess the capability of using atmospheric nitrogen and transporting the nutrient to the plants. Azospirillum is used in pearl-millet, sorghum, oats, barley, maize and forage crops. The fertilizer enhances productivity of grains by 5 to 20% in case of cereals. Productivity of fodder is increased by 50%, and the productivity of millets is improved by 30% with the use of this bio fertilizer.

Blue-Green Algae:

Blue green algae are an extremely effective bio fertilizer when used for rice. The proper application of this fertilizer significantly increases the yield of rice. Furthermore, algae help in the reduction of soil alkalinity.

Mycorrhizae:

This bio fertilizer is a combination of vascular plant roots and fungi. The fertilizer increases the uptake of phosphorus in fruit crops like papaya and citrus.

Vermi-Compost:

Vermi-compost is compost made by using earthworms that live in soil. These earthworms eat biomass and provide excretions in digested form. Because of the prominent role of earthworms in creating the compost, the compost has been named as vermi-compost. Studies show that one square meter of soil can be fed about 80 tonnes humus regularly, with the presence of 1800 earthworms in that soil. Vermi-compost is extremely beneficial in improvement of soil structure and fertility. The Nutrient Value in Organic Manures like vermi-compost is also greater than that of chemical fertilizers.

These are the major types of Organic bio fertilizers. You can use them according to the crops you are growing in your garden. These bio fertilizers can significantly help in crop growth and would result in the production of superior quality fruits and vegetables.
